The Principal and Chief Executive Officer, Thomas Derella, has been underwriting commercial risks
since 1987. During this period, Mr. Derella has held several underwriting and managerial positions with insurance companies and company-owned, managing general agencies (MGA’s).
The Kingstar Company currently consists of twelve insurance professionals.
Most have previously worked together on the company/MGA side of the business, for several years.

The management of Kingstar recognizes the smaller to medium sized risks located throughout New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania that have been vastly under-served and under-valued by most insurance markets. Typically, risks within this market segment are at the lower end of the premium spectrum. Subsequently, these risks have not been given the proper level of attention that they deserve from their carrier or managing general agency. Drawing upon our underwriting expertise, market knowledge and producer network, the Kingstar Company has focused our resources to capitalize on this market opportunity. |

Kingstar’s management has identified a market segment that consists of predominantly mercantile (retail and wholesale operations) service companies, hospitality companies and artisan contractors.
Our typical customer can be categorized as entrepreneurial in nature, whom employs a few people that he or she has known for a long time may manage a family business or is self-employed. The most frequently purchased coverage is either a Commercial Package Policy (CMP), or a Business Owners Policy (BOP). To properly insure a client, a Commercial Automobile Policy, Inland Marine Policy, Workers Compensation Policy, Commercial Umbrella Policy, and/or Equipment Floater may also be written. |
